During the latest ICIS phenol conference in Prague Vopak demonstrated its strong believe in the phenol business. During this excellent event we announced an extensive upgrade program with regards to the phenol infrastructure at our phenol hub at the Rotterdam based VTT Terminal. Besides the upgrade we are evaluating the possibilities of expanding our phenol tankage in parallel with the growing business of our customers. Expansion will be executed by modifying tanks and can therefore be done in a relatively short timeframe.

Vopak believes in creating hub terminals because of various reasons. First of all it enables us to centralize investments, creating a better return on invested capital. Secondly hub terminals make smoother operations possible. The reason is that operators on hub terminals are more experienced in handling ‘their products’, taking into account all specifics that go along with it. Last, but definitely not least, specialization enhances the level of safety because of increased handling experience and awareness among both planners and operators. Especially when handling products like phenol this is highly important.
