For many years, Vopak Rotterdam is the main methanol hub in Europe operating a dedicated storage system to serve producers, traders and consumers. Our methanol hub provides the global methanol market access to Europe throughout a multifunctional and dedicated co-mingled methanol system.
This system meets the highest standards on safety and operational performance in the market. Storage tanks ranging from 4,000 to 60,000 cubic metres are located at Vopak terminal Botlek and Vopak terminal Europoort. Besides the availability of numerous jetties, truck and rail loading facilities, both terminals are connected with a 16-inch pipeline to improve our flexibility even further.
Flexible infrastructure
The various storage tanks at both terminals offer our customers unequalled flexibility and the fastest turn-around times possible. The jetties are automated to the highest standards and the loading and discharging operations of methanol vessels are monitored by cameras and backed-up by a comprehensive emergencysystem. Vessels with a draft up to 70ft can be handled at a maximum discharge rate of 3600 cbm/hr, using 3 discharge arms. For the loading of methanol vessels and barges rates up to 750 cbm/hr per pipeline can be reached. Simultaneous loading/discharging operations are possible at this methanol hub. Furthermore, Vopak operates a highly efficient rail loading facility which is capable of loading block trains up to 1000 tons within a few hours.
Guaranteed service
Vopak has developed a Service Level Agreement in which the high standard operational services and turnaround times are guaranteed to its customers.
